Dave Balentine (Horace) Joined 2008
Keyboards Backing Vocal & Lighting
Having established at the age of seven that mimicry was much easier than learning to read music, Dave's incredible ear for notes, chords & sounds has stood him in good stead for the path he was to follow.Influenced by Genesis, Pink Floyd and Supertramp, he enjoys and plays a wide variety of music.
Honored now to be the late Rick Wright's protégé within ‘Relics’.
Starting out with ‘Street Trader’, covering amongst others, Dire Straits and Chris Rea covers, the band narrowly avoiding being renamed ‘Diarrhea’.
Able to pick & choose due to a local shortage of keyboard players, Dave joined an array of other bands over the years that followed.
Dave jumped at the chance to become a key member of Relics, just scraping through their minimum age requirements. Having long loved the Floyd sound, here was the opportunity to preserve it, and present it, live.
Somehow manages to program and reproduce as many sounds as his hands and feet allow him
Somehow also manages to be Stage Lighting Engineer at smaller venues.
Somehow also manages to be last to get packed up after shows (with Malcolm)
Is too modest to name-drop......
